Development of an application to send formatted emails to Marketing Community members.

Background

The BT Marketing Community website provides information and resources to marketing community members. It also holds member information in a members database.

Last year, UniTech developed an application which enables administrators to send formatted emails to members.

Requirements

  • Develop a system for non-technical users to construct an HTML email and send it to members
  • Make system flexible so that previously sent emails and imagery can be re-used.
  • Retain a record of emails sent (date and recipients)

  • Edit facility which enables re-use of previous work
  • Preview facility to enable quality checking
  • Ability to select individual recipients or ‘send to all’

Project description/Technology

The system has been implemented as a secure web-based application using Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0. Data is stored in a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database which is accessed remotely via an XML Web Service.

The project was implemented on time and within budget with full benefits realised immediately.
